LT GEN MJS KAHLON, AVSM

1. Lieutenant General Manmohan Jeet Singh Kahlon, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal was commissioned into the Armoured Corps in 1982. He has also served as a helicopter pilot, in the Army Aviation Corps. He has vast and varied staff, command and teaching experience. He is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and the Israeli National Defence College at Tel Aviv.

2. His important command assignments include the command of an Armoured Regiment, Independent Armoured Brigade, RAPID (Reorganised Army Plains Infantry Division) in the Desert Sector and a Strike Corps in the Western Theatre. The General Officer has served extensively in the North East, where he has been the BM of a Mountain Brigade, Col GS of a Mountain Division in Counter Insurgency Operations and has also served in a number of Aviation Units. He has also held instructional assignments in School of Technical Training (Armoured Corps Centre and School), Higher Command Wing and has been the Commander of School of Armoured Warfare (Armoured Corps Centre and School).

3. The General Officer has served both as Additional Director General & Director General of Perspective Planning, which spearheads the Capability Development of the Indian Army. He has also served as the Director General of Mechanised Forces and the Director General of Armoured Corps. He was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal for his contribution as ADG Perspective Planning.

4. A keen student, he is a Post Graduate in Strategic Studies, Management Studies, Political Science and is currently pursuing his PhD in Defence & Strategic Studies from Punjabi University, Patiala.

5. He is married to Mrs Manmeet Kahlon who is a Post Graduate in English. She has been a teacher and is a consultant in the field of education. They have two daughters. Ms Meher Kahlon is a lawyer who is currently doing her MBA from ISB Hyderabad and Ms Mehtab Kahlon who is a fashion designer and a budding writer.
